Weight management is not an easy task for many of us to achieve. We use a combination of Ayurveda therapies and medicines, yoga, fitness workouts and meditation to help you attain your ideal weight.

WEIGHT LOSS

If you’re carrying many extra pounds, you face a higher-than-average risk of a whopping 50 different health problems! These health conditions include some of the leading causes of death—heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and certain cancers—as well as less common ailments such as gout and gallstones. Perhaps even more compelling is the strong link between excess weight and depression, because this can have a profound, negative impact on your daily life. But people also gain weight because they’re depressed, and they become depressed because they’re overweight! Furthermore, modern day stress and processed food is a big cause of weight gain. At times, loosing weight seems a tireless task!

 

At Plantation Villa, we tackle weight loss in a number of ways:

Ayurvedic Medicines:
In Ayurvedic theory, if your body constitution (dosha) is in balance, then you will be at your optimum weight – your optimum weight will differ by your predominant dosha. Our medicines will help balance your dosha and this will trigger a weight loss.

Ayurvedic Treatments:
Ayurveda therapies designed for weight loss will be administered daily. These are quite powerful to aid weight loss. Some of the abhyanga therapies will help loosen deposited fat which can be burned during daily fitness activities.

Fitness Workouts:
We have an expert fitness instructor who will be visiting the Villa three times a week to run fitness classes for guests on the Weight Loss Package. He will also give a work out plan for you to follow daily during your stay.

Mindfulness Practices:
Yoga and meditation teachings and practices will accelerate your weight loss and also help you maintain it when you have left us.

Meals:
Our meals are nutritionally balanced and are fresh and organic with no or minimal use of oil, sugar and gluten. It will help promote weight loss and you can learn how fresh wholesome food can also be very tasty!

MEET OUR FITNESS TRAINER

Poorna Kahingala

Poorna has 16 years of experience as a Physical Training Instructor, Weightlifting Coach, Rugby Fitness Trainer and Personal Trainer. He has studied Advanced Weight Training technics, Physical Training, Bio Mechanism of Weightlifting, Sports Injury Rehabilitation, Flexibility and Sports Psychology. He is a 5 times National Weightlifting Champion and record holder, is a Black Belt holder in ‘Shotokan Karate’ and is an Executive Member of Sri Lanka National Olympic Committee. He does refereeing at World Championship, Asian Games & Commonwealth Games.

Despite all his achievements, Poorna is a gentle soul and adopts a very gentle and caring approach to his training. He is fun to work out with and will take it upon himself to show results. He is understanding and carries a structured approach to fitness training. He is also a nature lover and practices loving kindness which makes him a good fit to our operation!
