amazing life changing experience

I checked in the Plantation Villa anxious that I was going to be bored as I was going to spend 14 days there, I knew I needed a break away from everything in my life and I had no idea that I was going to enjoy every moment of it , the yoga sessions in the morning ,and in the evening ,the daily treatments , the food I was served every day , even though I was on a weight loss programme., all amazing . The housekeepers and kitchen ladies were serving amazing food , all organic from the Plantations garden , they were also so sweet and funny and always there to offer something to drink or to eat. Daniel the manager , so smart and wise and so having an answer for everything you wanted to ask about the diet , Ayurveda or anything else really. Roshan the therapist always with a big smile on his face , making you feel comfortable and then giving you a very relaxing or invigorating massage . I have never felt like I had to leave the Villa , everything I needed it was there during my stay. also our yoga teachers Warren and Michelle were very experienced and serious about the classes . I left the Planation feeling very sad , but I did promise everybody there I was going back again and I will definitely go back. for me this 2 weeks were an amzing expericne , it made me know myself more

A fantastic place where nothing is too much trouble

My sister and I spent a magical week at Plantation Villa in June this year. I can only recommend others to do the same. It's a magical place, with a superb service (nothing is too much trouble), and the staff is incredibly caring and attentive.I have Bone Cancer stage 4 and follow an alkaline diet and I also shun white carbs and sugar completely. Outside of that, the diet was centred around my condition and at every meal we got delicious and varied food. I listened carefully when told that Pineapple and Mango is not good for me - and funnily it resonates with me as I never much liked either, so now I avoid them completely. Endless supply of herbal tea with the local honey, and cool coconut water as well. The water is drinkable from the tap and for the first time ever I managed a week in south east asia without any tummy issues. FAB! Thanks again to all the staff who looked after us so well 🙂 Hugs from Vibeke Ulmann Weincke and her sister Marianne Ottesen Weincke

Authentic and Inspirational

I was so inspired by the values and actions of Ishara De Silva who owns the Plantation Villa. Together with the resident doctor, Daniel, they are living the values that many of us aspire to. Plantation Villa not only employs local people, they are intimately involved in supporting the community in which they operate. The staff are caring and solicitous, the food was a highlight for me (all organic and delicious), and the concept unique in Sri Lanka as far as I can tell. Whilst I didn't achieve my goal of losing weight while at the retreat, I got so many other things... greater knowledge of the Ayurvedic tradition in Sri Lanka which is a milder and more subtle form than that practiced in India, lovely treatments, excellent yoga (some visiting yogis were in residence), insights into Buddhism, trips to the surrounds, meeting lovely like-minded people and a chance to relax and reflect. Thank you to the staff of Plantation Villa for their outstanding service. It was a very special time for me.

Far from the Madding Crowd

Ayurveda Retreat-Plantation Villa, Kalutara, is a remarkable natural oasis with astonishing flora and fauna, offering both accommodation and natural foods and drinks mostly based on the Plantation produce, and if needed (which I strongly recommend) a personalised program of treatments suggested by an ayurvedic doctor that sees you and listens to you on your arrival day and progressively checks the results of treatments on you. I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness of my room and the surrounding environment, the perfect organization of the schedules (I also very much enjoyed Pryiantha's early morning yoga lessons, and a short swimming before breakfast and the relaxing and very pleasant intensive massages and other special treatments carried out by Roshan, who is in charge of the place when Ishara, the young but very skillful manageress and owner of the Plantation, is not on the spot though constantly in touch via email or phone and ready to mediate in case of problems or give advice to meet any needs. I had one with Roshan due to a linguistic misunderstanding that was quickly settled. The atmosphere is peaceful and all the staff, including three women coordinated by the gentle Lalitha, are caring and constantly ready to please you and make you feel comfortable in any possible way. Another astonishing thing is that you get meals not at set times but when YOU feel hungry! Where else can you get that? I do believe the Plantation and its facilities are worth a journey to Sri Lanka, that is why I strongly recommend it to all my friends and anybody loving a close contact with unpolluted nature and oneself. If you are interested in enjoying excursions the House can help and when wanted you are also provided with a modern A/C car and driver, of course with extra charges, the same happens if you need transport from and to Colombo airport, which, and I appreciated that, is never an obbligation. You feel totally free to make your own choices. I think I'll repeat this experience again and again, whenever I can afford.

Sanctuary for the soul

I had the most wonderful stay here. After backpacking this was a welcome relief and a place to completely unwind. The staff are so friendly and helpful it feels like staying at a home from home. I loved it so much that I returned again fr a few days before my journey home to England. The grounds and surrounding area are beautiful and the plantation itself is tranquil, the food is fresh wholesome and a breath of fresh air for the palate, I really enjoyed the pinda sweda treatment and yoga every evening. This was a truly cleansing experience for body and mind. Thank you all so much for your hospitality and kindness! I will be back Again that is for sure!

Relaxation & Improved health

After travelling around India for a few months a couple of weeks relaxation was needed! There was no better place to stay than at Plantation Villa. The peaceful and serene location is perfect to de stress and unwind. I had surprisingly managed to acquire a stomach bug whilst In India where running to the toilet was common place. The organic picked local food sorted this issue out within the first few days. The flavours and dishes that the women make are delicious. The staff are all incredible and work hard to make you're stay as calm as possible. I came away feeling rejuvenated and revitalised. Stayed April 2015, traveled as a couple

Relaxation in beautiful surroundings

My husband, daughter and I booked to do yoga at the Plantation Villa and had a wonderful time with the great 'travelling ' yogis there. We walked every day along the quiet roads and enjoyed delicious ayurvedic food and massages too. The staff were amazing and we had a lovely simple break away from the hustle and bustle of City life. We appreciated the cards and games as our daughter loved these and also the also the swimming pool. The wildlife life was amazing! (Do be prepared do for Mosquitos)!

Great relaxing stay

We really enjoyed our relaxing stay at the Plantation villa. This place felt like home thanks to the lovely personnel. The food was delicious, the rooms had nice modern showers. Everyone was very attentive and if you want to know something more about Ayurveda (and not only!) definitely talk to Danielle; he is very knowledgeable, kind and always up for a good chat. Definitely recommend staying there. We took nice walks around.

Peace and Love

Our stay at Plantation Villa came up to our expectation. The location was wonderful, surrounded by lush greenery, very peaceful and relaxing. My husband and I did not choose the ajuvedic package, we stayed 7 days and choose the yoga and ajuvedic food package, which was great. 2 hours of yoga every day, which was taught very well and the healthy food was lovingly prepared by 3 amazing ladies, who could not have done more for us every day, all day!! Daniel, who is the manager and ajuvedic doctor on site is very knowledgable and provided really valuable information. We met wonderful people and quickly became 'a family' in those 7 days. All in all, we left at peace, relaxed and healthier with a lot of new knowledge.
